BROOKIE MCILVAINE

I’m a writer-editor living in the East Village. For more than six years, I’ve worked at the intersection of publishing and entertainment, with an emphasis on film, fashion, food, and books.

As an editor at Netflix’s magazine, Queue, for 17 issues, I have helped strategize and implement editorial coverage for films and series in awards contention, such as BEEF, Nobody Wants This, Emilia Pérez, The Lost Daughter, All Quiet on the Western Front, Squid Game, and many more.

I was recruited to the University of Pennsylvania by the Kelly Writers House and have been writing ever since. For Queue and Tudum — Netflix Publishing’s digital vertical — I’ve conducted interviews and written 250-plus cover stories, news beats, features, and Q&As with top talent across genres and crafts. I asked film’s most prolific composer Alexandre Desplat about scoring The Piano Lesson and Nyad, spoke to casting-director-turned-screenwriter Samy Burch about making her feature film debut with May December, and talked to multihyphenate Mo Amer about everything from the Houston food scene to making art from pain in his series Mo.

Recently, I covered Cameron Winter’s concert and explosive solo album for the Village Star-Revue, among other freelance pieces and projects.

Previously, I worked in book publishing at Picador/FSG and as an editor at PEN America’s Prison Writing Program.
